Two year old Toshiba laptop 250gig drive - likely a Toshiba. It sometimes runs hot, like 47/48C. Today it got to 52C. Over the weekend it never got above 35C.

Is the HDD in a death spiral? And yes I have back-ups.

Sorry your's died with all of your stuff. After seeing a friend lose lots of pics, vids and others tuff I've become a back-up freak.

I have drive that will slide right into the Toshiba if needed.

Do you use your lap top atop your lap? Heavy tablecloth? On the back of Baby got back?

Blocking the cooling fan intake/exhaust vents by chance?

i've noticed most of the temperature problems i have come from dust and the room temp as well as disk load. As of right now my cpu temp is sitting at 34c, if i close the cracked window i can see it shoot up to 41 in about 30 minutes. Which is normal, it's just hot in my room right now with 5.1 surround, lights, 2 monitors, computer, etc.
