I was looking at some of the top listed web sites for
vendors who do firearms plating. I was reading about
hard chrome plating and notice that one of them does
chrome plating on bolt carrier groups.
I have a BCM (non Ionbond) bcg on my AR.
Would there be any benefit of having a bcg hard chromed ?.

This is a topic of some debate. Personally, I say there's no real benefit aside from the fact that it's easier to clean. However, the part of the carrier that really needs to be clean (the channel that holds the gas rings/bolt tail) is already chromed.

Don't bother. By the time you pay for shipping and the HC you're already going to be most of the way to just buying another carrier. If you feel you need a slick carrier, buy a JP QPQ Stainless carrier and keep your BCM for a spare or to build a backup gun around.

If youre gonna pay extra for a BCG, get a nickel Boron. It's what a hard chromed BCG wished it was. :)

Agreed. NiB isn't cheap but it's a top notch coating.

Are there any manufacturers who make a nickle boron BCG and bolt for an AR10?

    Thanks fellas for the answers.
I'll just buy an upgraded one like the NiB.
I was going to order another BCM upper
so I'll get me a Nickle Boron one then.
    Many thanks for the advice.
