I have a hk p7 that was Chromed a few years back and the finish is starting to flake off here the slide rubs the frame. Any tips on how I can stop the flaking or should I just bite the bullet and donut over again?

If the chrome is not adhereing to the metal then there is nothing you can do to stop it from flaking. This is one of the down sides to chrome, adhesion can be less than optimal for long term durability.

The only option is to re-do the finish, you might look at a nickel based process (electroless nickel, nickel teflon, nickel boron) as they tend to provide better adhesion.

I don't know why everyone feels the need to recoat a Glock with chrome or nickel, etc. All you have to do is buff off the black parkerization. The "Tenifer" is not going to come off or rust and it buffs up just like chrome.
