The subject line says it all. I've read good reviews of these $19 electronic hearing protector headsets, so with my latest www.harborfreight.com order, I ordered a set.

Tried them today at the outdoor range, they're great!! It's a nice change to still be able to hear all the normal background sounds, but they automatically mute with louder sounds, like gunfire. Even chambering a round will cause them to mute briefly. Takes 2 AA batteries, not included. It seems very well made, time will tell.

The only downside is that orders from harborfreight take a few weeks to get delivered. Not a problem for me, they tell you about that when you place the order.

    Thanks Barkin'Dog for covering me!

Sorry I hadn't checked this thread for awhile. You'll like the headphones, I'm sure.

I've had a couple sets of these for a while. Not as good as the 'real' ones like Dillon or Peltors, etc. But for $20, hard to beat. When they're off, they seem to do just fine as normal muffs. When they're on, in a busy range, they'll end up cut out more than not. They'll properly cut out if you clap your hands, and respond quickly. They do have a fairly slow recovery time, so again, in a busy range they really aren't on much. That said, I'm wearing mine when I'm at the range, even if just so I can turn them on when I need to yap about something in particular.
