I've done some research and have narrowed it down to 4 of my favorites.
Eventually I would like to own all 4, but I can only afford one at this time.
All are chambered in 9mm and in a nickel or stainless finish.
Any thoughts and opinions are welcome.

    Sig Sauer P226 X-FIVE ALLROUND
    Barrel: 5 inch
    Stock Mag: 17
    DA/SA

    Beretta 92FS Inox
    Barrel: 4.9 inch
    Stock Mag: 15
    DA/SA

    Para Ordnance P18-9
    Barrel: 5 inch
    Stock Mag: 18
    Single Action Only

    Israel Military Industries Jericho 941
    Barrel: 4.5 inch
    Stock Mag: 15
    DA/SA

EDIT: I checked out the Jericho a few days ago, It didn't fit my hand as well as the SIG and Beretta,
I still think it is a great gun, just not for me. I also checked out the Kimber Custom II, and have decided to add it to my list in place of the Para Ordnance P19-9.

Take that Para off the list, it doesn't belong with the others at all. :)

    The X-Five is outstanding.

It is very nice looking and I really like how it has a decocker that isn't also the safety like on the Beretta. what do you think are the chances of getting it at or under $1000?

unless you have $1500+ for the Sig

Beretta 92FS Inox has the best build at its price point. Mags are everywhere and stuff like grips and holsters easy to find if thats your thing.

Drop a $5 d spring in it an the trigger is extra sweet.

Learn how to do D spring and a lot of owner info here

Assuming you don't have the cash.
From the List at the affordable price is
the Jericho 941 very good firearm. Buds
have some and you can put in layaway.
    Welcome to the forum!

+1 I never tried the X5 but all seven Sigs I have owned (still have four) are excellent guns.

The Jericho seems to be a really nice gun,
but I was thinking it would make a better concealed carry gun.
Originally I was favoring the Beretta,
but I believe if I can find the Sig at a very good price
it would be my gun of choice.

just wondering, are you a 1911 purist,
and don't like the double stack,
or do you have a genuine problem with it?

If you can only have one from your list get the Sig. I don't think the others are in quite the same league as a Sig X5 series.

Welcome to GT. For your first pistol a Beretta 92 would be best. Not too expensive, almost no recoil so its easy to learn to shoot on.

After that, get a P226. Then get a Glock 17!

    Thanks for the welcome :)

Actually I'm not a stranger to shooting, I just wasn't old enough to get a handgun before. been shooting lots of bows, rifles and handguns since I was about 8 years old. Mainly looking for a gun that can be used for home defense and the range, but I also plan to get my Georgia Firearm License in a few months and will likely open carry 70% of the time.

like I said, I was favoring the Beretta, has many of the features I'm looking for, and I will likely be able to get it for around $600 at the gun show.

I have been to all the local pawn shops hoping to become more familiar with them before the gun show, but none carried it. There isn't a Cabela's in my state from what I can tell, and the closest bass pro shop is about 30 miles from here, so haven't made it out there yet.

    Nowhere near the same league.
