I've been licensed for 43 years now. Used to do it a lot, especially working DX on 20 meters. Haven't been on very much in the last 10 years, but still keep the ticket active.

I got my tech about a year and a half ago. I have a 2m HT and a 2m mobile. I don't talk on either of them much though. I tend to listen a lot more than I talk. Which is the reason I've been a member here for a decade with 1500 posts. Good luck, it is a lot of fun. I just built my first homebrew antenna a couple weeks ago. A 2m j-pole like the ones you see on youtube.

I have been a ham for about 15 years. I am not on the air a lot redecently, but hoping when the kids get a little older I can get them involved. I use to teach beginner classes. I would look for a local club that might offer classes, although if you are at all technically inclined I think you will find the Technician test pretty easy. I also recommend taking some of the online tests so you can get a feel for what the test are like. If you have any questions you can PM me and I can try to help out.

I have my tech. lic. but I rarely talk on it except to my dad when I am around his town on 2m. I might upgrade in a few years when I have more time to get into it.

I have my General Ticket and teach a Technician class for our Church. I have six students, including a 10y/o boy, testing in the morning.

    Ham here also.

QRZ.com Online practice tests Same questions you will see on your exam for license.

eHam.net Another site with online practice tests Same questions.

ARRL.net American Radio Relay League Largest organization supporting ham activities.

In order to take the licensing test you will need to find either a club, hamfest, or ham operator in your local area to find out where the next VE exam session will be.

    Good Luck
