I just ordered one of these from www.gymboss.com for assorted interval work. Reviews on several sites seem favorable. I'm envisioning an evil Tabata circuit in the back yard: :jumprope: :jumpingjacks: :nsb: :deadhorse: ...:puking:

I've been thinking of buying one of those also.

Be sure to post a review!

Me too. They seem to be all the rage on RossTraining.com.

I also thought about trying to find an online free timer program, perhaps something that would run on a notebook computer or (egad) an HP48S or HP50g calculator, LOL. Just hadn't gotten around to looking yet.

Yep, I was looking at them too.

Let me know if a monkey can set it. If so, that means I'm golden!

...and the monkey was successful! I just got the timer in the mail, inserted the battery, and figured it out in about 30 seconds. If you've ever used a Casio or Timex digital watch, you'll pick it up immediately. I set it to dual timers of 20 and 10 seconds with a 1 second alarm, set it to auto (repeat), and hit start. I did 10 cycles of Tabata squats, followed by 10 cycles of Tabata pushups. Good times indeed. I'm really happy with the purchase after using it once. I understand the company good with customer service as well.

    All hail the monkey!

Sounds good. So if you set if for Tabata intervals is there a way to have it stop at after 4 minutes, or sound an alarm after 4 minutes?

Or do you have to keep track of your "sets" on your own?

I don't think you can specify a number of sets, but the timer keeps a count of sets. This morning, I did three sets each of pushups, bridges, and flutter kicks for a total of 9 consecutive cycles (of 20 on, 10 rest). I'm really digging this thing.
