Yea, you wonder how Matt Dillon's Dodge City could ever have been in Kansas. But they didn't have vast green stretches of alfalfa and corn fields back then.

    I still watch Gunsmoke.

Lots of fond memories with my Grandfather and I watching that show.
We didn't have a remote then so I was the remote.
He would smoke his cigars in his favorite chair and my Grandmother would bake cookies in the kitchen.
Man those were the good old days.

I loved Bonanza when I was a kid in the 80s, never paid attention to Gunsmoke. Started watching it on TVLand in the past 4 years. Good stuff.

[email protected] age jokes. A guy that I knew was the oldest of the group, he was 32 and I was 2nd oldest at 26. Someone that imitated his voice perfectly said "You that show Gunsmoke, when it came out that was the year I was born" and everyone got a huge kick out of it, except for the guy of course.

Gunsmoke is classic television, grew up watching it and still love it to this day. Man it brings back memories. Good, solid television without all the bullcrap that's on today.

Our family watched Gunsmoke when I grew up in the 50's and 60's. Funny when you think about it, the show was largely staged around the happenings in the Long Branch Saloon with Matt, Kitty, Chester and Doc cajoling over beers. Family entertainment. Makes me wonder if such a setting wouldn't come under all sorts of attack from nanny groups like MADD, church groups and LEO associations. Still, the old westerns were morality plays, something that can't be found on TV nowadays.

I have a collection of Gunsmoke episodes that we watch when hanging out at our mountain cabin. Just seems to fit....

that's ok, Mash, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, The Dukes of Hazard and many other shows were filmed in Malibu Canyon outside of LA. I'll bet Gunsmoke was filmed there too!

Maybe Gunsmoke's Dodge City is to Kansas what McDonald's 100%RealBeef is to real beef?

Can someone remind me how to find the "TM" button on the keyboard?
