Ever have a specific gun, caliber or type of gun you keep coming back to even though you bought at least one and been disappointed with it in the past?

For me it is 22 revolvers. In the early 90s I bought a Taurus 94 which like most rimfire revolvers had a stiff DA trigger pull. And unlike most revolvers had some serious QA issues. I sold it and later bought a Ruger Single six. Which worked well but was not particularly accurate and I did not like poking the empties out one at a time. So I sold it too. A couple of years ago I bought a Ruger GP-100. Which seemed a little rough around the edges. I expected the stiff DA pull but the SA pull wasn't great either. And there were a couple of cosmetic issues that didn't affect functionality but still bothered me. So I sold it too.

Despite all that history I find myself thinking a S&W 617 would probably be accurate with a good SA trigger even if the DA trigger is heavy. Or that considering the low price maybe I could live with punching out the empties one at a time with either a Ruger Wrangler or Heritage Arms SA 22. Leaning heavily towards the 617.

What's wrong with me??? I know how this is going to end. I am going to buy another 22 revolver and end up selling it. Again!!! Like a train wreck in slow motion I can see it coming but cannot avert the outcome. I have a couple of 22 semiautos that work well and in the case of S&W 41 are really accurate. No idea why I keep lusting after rimfire revolvers.

I lust for 1911s. They don't have to be expensive or exotic. They all hold a fascination for me.

I had a Taurus 94 that was absolute garbage.

For me, I have purchased waaaaayyy too many Glocks over the years, even though they cause thumb pain. The only non-painful Glock was my 43 (because it's slim), and maybe the 17L (because it soaked up recoil).

All of them have been traded for CZs and Hi Powers, but I still find them tempting.

Although I do not own one now, the 1911 .45ACP semi-auto pistol has been one that I have owned for much of my life. I'm in my later years of life now, and probably have all of the firearms that I need, but I may very well add at least one 1911 to my stable within the next year. There is just something about shooting the 1911 . . .

Remington 1187's. I grew up shooting 1100's, love the feel of that gun and wore out all the early 80's versions I shot as a kid and inherited from my dad.

The Remington autos have turned to junk but I keep looking for a decent one.

.22 rifles. I have owned and sold a bunch of them. Still have 3, plus a .22 magnum. I especially have a weakness for CZ's and old Marlins. Glocks are a close second...

    Glocks are like viruses.

Everyone is infected but everyone does not acknowledge it.

But we know. Their secret is safe.

I have never been disappointed with one, but I have owned and traded 2 or 3 Browning Hi Powers and I still feel like I should have one. Maybe with .40 going out of style, I'll find a good deal on a .40 cal one.

After having several.22’s I figured I would try a Beretta neos. I know Ugly as sin. BUT after several thousand rounds I still have it and enjoy shooting it. What’s better than shooting for pennies.

As much s I like the early K-frame K-22's, a nice pre-lock S&W 617 is one of the nicest 22 revolvers ever made and their 10 shot cylinders make practicing DA trigger manipulation easy. Smith and Wessons have the best triggers right out of the box but a skilled gunsmith can make them even better.
