It has been a long time since I have been to a gun show. The last gun show I went to I was VERY disappointed. There were a lot of Knick knack tables...flea market type of items. I have been reading that a lot of this has been cleaned up.

But I think my biggest disappointment was paying $10 or $15 per person to get in and finding that everything in the show was VERY over priced. It was during the time that gun sales and prices were through the roof but I could have driven to an LGS just down the road and paid considerably less for the ammo and guns that were for sale.

So I am curious if all of this has changed or will it be more of the same?? I remember a day ( loooong time ago ) where you could go to a gun show and find deals on things you were looking for.

My experience has been exactly the same. The only items I have found that I was remotely interested in were used firearms, but invariably priced way out of my range. All new firearms were priced at least $100 over prices easily found on the internet. Newly manufactured ammunition was also grossly overpriced.

Most tables have nothing but junk knifes, belt buckles, a bunch of completely unmarked and worn out pistol magazines, reloaded ammo, and other stuff I have absolutely no interest in. I have stopped attending.

I remember in the 80’s and early 90’s you could find deals at gun shows. Now it’s nothing but overpriced weapons, old ammo and assorted junk. Around here the bigger shows you not only pay admission but parking fees. It’s usually not even worth attending inlesx I have time to waste and just want to browse.

Thanks fellas. I am asking because there is a show coming to north Atlanta ( Eastman ) on the 17th. I guess it’s still more of the same.

I can’t imagine why people would continue to go to these things if prices aren’t competitive.

The worst part is the non gun junk to me. Scentsy candles, some survival gizmo, clothes, purses, etc. There seems to be less and less guns at every show I got to.

Gun shows these days are for uneducated buyers and impulse purchases. I think the only thing worth going for is to find something somewhat uncommon, but not highly valuable.

The gun shows that I went to in and around the Fairfax, VA area (Dulles convention center) are pretty darn good. Large displays of new and used guns, ammo, accessories. Decent pricing too.

The San Antonio, TX gun shows are rather disappointing with the exception of vintage SW and Colt revolvers.

The gunshows in western PA are hit and miss. All under $10.00 admission, one has very strict guns ,ammo and related rules while another has lots of beef jerky sales and some common hand tools, etc. The third one has gutter helmet sales reps, women begging for donations to fake veterans organizations, etc. YMMV. tom. :cowboy:

I agree about the Virginia area gun shows being pretty decent, especially compared to the Texas, Arizona and California shows I have attended over the years.

There is a gun show here that often has deals I want. The local (big city) dealers tend not to go, and in their stores prices are sometimes higher than the medium city gun stores. Some of the medium city gun stores show up with lots of nice guns at decent prices. Hit and miss, to be sure, but I have purchased guns there. I just bought a few automatic knives, and the prices at the vendor there were much lower than anything I am able to get elsewhere, and the selection was great! Ammo deals weren't great the last time, and I admit you do have to walk by beef jerky, see lots of junk tables, and smell the smell of roasting nuts being carmelized in sugar...

The quarterly one a the Big E in Springfield MA, repeats its self over and over again.

The same people selling the same stuff, including the guy selling the same "original" SS 44-dot tunic that looks suspiciously identical to the repro I have for 1/10 his price.

gun shows are becoming like Cd's, DVD's, landline phones, magazines and newspapers.... obsolete and irrelevant. a friend of mine wants to sell some guns and I told him to list it online, but he wont have any of that. he prefers to sit at a table and try to sell them to the limited market who actually attends the show. he just wont accept that an online listing will reach far more people than a gun show in the midwest.
