Amy Winehouse gets **** on because, well, she was crackhead. But, she brought a depth to pop music that I don't think has been seen since. I think in the future she'll be remembered, crackhead or not, as something special. A breath of subtance in pop music.

What music do you think is something special but has been disregarded, or overlooked?

Loved Amy Winehouse. Such a waste.

Too much money, too much fame, too easy access to drugs.

Kills a lot of really talented young musicians.

IIRC her boyfriend was a huge part of the problem.

I don't know about guilty pleasure, but I'm a big fan of these dweebs. Whenever I hear old farts in my age bracket talk about 'there's no good music anymore,' all I can think is they're just not paying attention.

I guess another guilty pleasure for me would be anything by Philip Glass. My wife is a diehard fan of conventional classical music and can't stand him. Thank goodness for headphones. I know it’s weird and nobody here will like it, but it works for me.

I liked her taste in music and she was one hell of a singer and arranger. Here she is doing Toots and the Maytal's "Monkey man"

And here's the original version from 1975 when I first started listening to Reggae music, long before Amy Winehouse was born.

any mention of glass evokes instant memories from highschool and koyaanisqatsi challenge keeping awake under less than ideal circumstances... kidding aside, i owe appreciation of minimalist music to glass in particular.

I was really hoping she was going to get a James Bond movie theme back when her name was bandied about, but it never came to pass.

A cover of Goldfinger would have been cool.
