Probably not many here that will know this, but how's the border security between Guatemala and Mexico? Is it as bad as US/Mexico? If I had to guess, I'd say its probably worse, but who knows.

I have been there once, driving to Guatemala City. This was a few years ago but besides closing whenever they wanted to and opening up after a 3 hour lunch, it is pretty much like any other border crossing with two 3rd world countries. We bribed the guy to stay for 5 more minutes to process our papers and let us through. Very corrupt, money talks.

while I (college male) was traveling with a friend (college female) they never even looked inside our bags at any of the crossings (Backpacked through all of central america...) Didn't even show the passport at the El Salvador entrance... kinda scary.
