There have meen many changes in the past few years, but mostly this year, and GSSF is struggling. For the last two years there have been match delays blamed on electronic scoring, but we still have delays this year. The squadding concept, although simple, is not working well. Perhaps we should return to the old scoresheets and stack of paper, which worked most of the time. The RO's do not seem to care for the sign in sheets. Glock Management has stepped in and imposed a tough budget on GSSF. Hey, this is a common business practice and something we have to live with and work with. Business is about earning a return on investment, and that is nothing new. I'm on a pretty tight financial diet myself and I don't like my diet one bit. We all have to learn to deal with the allowance we are given. There has been a lot of changes in the GSSF Staff. Julie and David were added to GSSF and now they are in Marketing. Emphasis is being directed towards "Team Glock" with Gunny, Julie and David. That's business. That's life. Now we have new scoring rules, alternate scoring rules & stages and modified prize distribution, AND, match cancellations due to the new, uniform, contract required by Glock, Inc., of Smyrna, GA. We, as members, can balk, whine and complain, boycott or even drop out of GSSF. We can also work with GSSF and help our favorite gun game get through this difficult transition year. Why do you shoot GSSF? I always have a chance of winning a pistol, but it would be cheaper for me to buy a new Glock than to make a three day, two night trip for two to most any match. My shooting is lousy, this year and last year. I make the trips because of the fellowship, the renewed friendships, the new friendships, the team competitions. There are many things about GSSF that I would change if I could, but I can't. I would like to reverse the Master's Share The Wealth Rule, reverse the new fiber optics/espress sight rule, restore the scoring rules and eliminate the squadding. I would like to see GSSF resume giving away goodies at the matches. I would like to see the Lewis System restored. I would like to see GSSF come to terms with all the host clubs. I would like to see team scores posted with preliminary results as they have been in the past. While I'm waiting for all my dreams to come true I'll just continue to look forward to my three day weekends at GSSF matches with my family and friends. Life is too short and too precious to waste on the little stuff. Our opinions do count. We can speak out without fingrepointing or placing blame. It's not the host clubs versus GSSF. It's not members versus members. We are GSSF. We can offer suggestions to GSSF Magement. We can ofer suggestions to Glock Management. We can offer suggestions to the Host Clubs. We must be ProActive.
