I am totally new to guns and joined the GSSF and waited for my coupon to purchase my first firearm. I have read quite a bit on this site about GSSF coupon purchase experiences so I don't think mine is unusual but I will share non the less. I called GSSF and got a couple names of "participating dealers" and emailed the one closest to me about purchasing a G17 Gen4 and was given a price of $485 instead of $425 than in another email told $485 plus $20 transfer fee? The other dealer which is a good hours drive away quoted me $460. I guess I have waited so long I don't think I want to mess around calling back and contacting more dealers with further drives to save the $35-80. Already thinking I might want another gun for carry though and tempted to just work a deal on this first one and save the coupon what do you guys think?

I bought a G19 Gen 4 under the GSSF program in September 2011 at Fletchers in Waukesha. Without tax/paperwork the price was $460. I think I paid close to $490 total. It was about an hour drive from my house and the only place within my area that would accept the GSSF coupon.

I just shot a couple of the indoor GSSF shoots at the Shooters in Racine. The shoots went well, but I never thought to ask them about the GSSF discount. Instead of driving to Fletchers, Shooters is about 1.25 hours away from my house, so I could spend an additional 30 minutes (round trip) to save 45-50 bucks. Take the money saved and on the way home, get lunch at Fred's Parkview in Burlington. Supposedly the world's best burgers.
