I am considering joining the GSSF because I would like to try competing in matches. Are there any other benefits to joining or is it just something you have to do to compete? I went to their web site to get info, only to find that there wasn't a whole lot of it.

To compete in a GSSF indoor or outdoor event you MUST join GSSF. You'll get a hat and The Glock Report and the Glock Annual a few other odds and ends.
If you do join and come to an outdoor match, you'll be with GREAT company! You might even win a gun or cash prize! You will have a good time meeting other GSSF members!
I can speak from experiance! My father-in-law, Don At PC, and I travel to 10 to 12 outdoor matches a year.

What about having a Factory authorized armorer ( that actualy knows what he or she is doing) go over your Glock at the matches?

Don't know how far it is from you, but if you want to practice a bit, the Marietta, Ohio club that will be hosting a GSSF match in July is planning to have some Glock-style matches in May and early July. It is a good chance to practice. PM me if you would like some more information.

I suspect you could get that done without joining just by crashing a GSSF match and walking up to the armorer's table.

    Other benefits:

Lifetime warranty on any Glocks you own (bought new or used).

The Glock Anual and Glock Report publications via snail mail.

And allegedly for lifetime membership, you get some sort of package of "stuff" and your name in the Glock Report under new lifetime members...assuming you don't fall through the cracks as I seem to have. [Anyone from GSSF reading this? PM me.]
