When I got this Norinco a few weeks ago, it came with Uncle Mike's black rubber checkered grips. I like the grips, but they just did not belong on a Norinco.

So, I installed a set of brown plastic checkered 1911A1 grips. They looked too new for the Norinco, so I aged them a little bit using black liquid shoe polish. I applied it and them wiped it off. Here is the result.

Here it is with my other Norinco (walnut checkered grips).

James, these grips look very similar to the grips that come with the Regent, other than the darkening you did.

    Are they the same? :dunno:

They are the same type of brown plastic checkered grip as found on the Regent. I have had these grips laying around for a while waiting to use them on something. All of a sudden, a light bulb came on and the next thing I know, I have new grips on the Norinco. One never knows what one can do if one never tries. I thank God that I have a good head on my shoulders and the common sense to figure things out.

Here is a pic for comparison.

I have those exact same UM grips, did yours come with the finger grooves?
They’re really kind of rare in their own right, they don’t make them anymore.

I replaced them with thin micarta VZ grips.
Then when using it I pressed the mag button accidentally causing a malfunction, never had that problem with the full sized UM grips.

So, I put my UM grips back on. :D

The UM grips did not come with the finger grooves. I like the rubber grips, but I wanted to return the Norinco back to as close to original form as I could.

I’ve got a set of real Norinco grips I’d trade for the uncle mikes grips, if you're interested.

    Looks great!!

My original Norinco plastic grips looked really cheap, so I had to change them out. Not really A1 material, but I liked the look of the ebony wood double diamonds from Eagle Grips and they feel great in my hand, too. :)
