How much difference in grip thickness is there between the P226 and G17?

    I bougtht a 17 and a 226 at the same time
    kept the 226
the grip diameter is very similiar
the 226 with the old syle grips is the thinnest
I have both the old style and the new logo grips, the older ones are definitely thinner and I prefer them and I have big hands (xxlarge gloves)

the trigger guard on the 17 dug into my right index finger, I dremeled out a relief cut on it and had to remove quite a bit of material to get it better..

I shot both and I hands down preferred the 226, it was just (to me) so much more of an enjoyable gun to shoot. Both are obviosuly well made and reliable. But the Sig was (to me) more accurate and a lot more fun to shoot...

    Thanks for the info.

I have a G17 and don't own but have shot the P226 a few times and I thought the grip felt thicker than the G17. The P226 I shot did have the newer grips so that migh be part of the issue.

The G17 has more depth but the the P226 is wider but smaller circumference wise.
