i picked up a nice G38 the other day
thinking abt doing or having some custom work done to it to make it really special
thinking abt having the finger grooves removed kinda making it more like a gen 2 gun and having it "checkered/stippled" back like the backstrap area is
who would be the best at doing this?
    has anyone had it done?
what do you think abt this idea?
is there a place that offers step by step instructions on how to do it myself?
i am kinda handy with hand tools, i was a machinist for 25 years

my overall plan is to do something like this to reduce the grip a little
add truglo tfo sights or some other night sighting system and possibly a lasermax guide rod
i think the result would be a pretty sweet carry sd package

thanks in advance for any and all advice/opinions on this matter

It's fairly easy to do yourself. There is a lot of good how to info on here.Just search for grips mods, etc.If you want someone to do it for you, Coldborecustoms does very nice work.

There is nothing like doing it all yourself. Alot of the work is easy if you are very handy at all. Mine is work in progress since I won't leave home without it. I went shooting last night and the work has made a big improvement on the handing of the gun. Alot of self satisfaction in doing it yourself. Jim

My daughter and I have short fingers and a Glock is just a bit large for us. She had her G31 reduced by Robar and I did my G17 myself. It made a big difference to us. If you have large hands it might not be a big deal.
