Greyhound, the nation’s largest bus company, said Friday it will stop allowing Border Patrol agents without a warrant to board its buses to conduct routine immigration checks. The company’s announcement came one week after The Associated Press reported on a leaked Border Patrol memo confirming that agents can’t board private buses without the consent of the bus company. Greyhound had previously insisted that even though it didn’t like the immigration checks, it had no choice under federal law but to allow them. In an emailed statement, the company said it would notify the Department of Homeland Security that it does not consent to unwarranted searches on its buses or in areas of terminals that are not open to the public – such as company offices or any areas a person needs a ticket to access. Greyhound said it would provide its drivers and bus station employees updated training regarding the new policy, and that it would place stickers on all its buses clearly stating that it does not consent to the searches.

I don't think Greyhound can stop them from boarding their buses.

This is all about searches without a warrant... And yes, they can... The 4th amendment still means something

That's because the only folks that ride Greyhound are illegals. If this company turns their back on ICE then to [email protected] with them period.

I'm sure you wouldn't mind ICE searching your home. I'm sure you have nothing to hide.

Within a certain mileage of the boarder and at international ports and airports, the customs and border patrol people have a bit of leeway.

Nobody is "turning" their back.. just simply asking that government employees stay off their property if they don't have a warrant...
    It's what I would do.

I hope the DOJ can get an injunction against Greyt***d. So tired of people violating Federal law. Scum sanctuary cities sheltering convicted felon illegals from deportation.

Long past time to start deporting every illegal in the US with violation of the law more serious than a speeding ticket. Don

I just heard on the news that if the bus is within a hundred miles of the border, they can board. Does this sound right?

Well, maybe the government should stop issuing or recognizing commercial drivers licenses for Greyhound Drivers or have the IRS do a comprehensive review of the company’s tax history.

Companies that value profit more than our collective need to protect against illegals need to pay a price.

No warrant will ever be issued to board a bus when the bus company also doesn’t share a manifest. Law Enforcement could never make a case.

    This is crap.

I don't think Federal LE requesting someone to show an ID is an illegal search and seizure. Don

    It could...
But if they can establish PC, why are they asking?
If you don't ask I'm not gonna try to stop you... If you do, the answer is a flat no...

I'm thinking, your average bus driver sees a uniform, badge and gun and that's all the convincing they need.

At an actual port of entry, yeah you have to see what is coming into the country. The thing is our government is setting up checkpoints NOT at points of entry and basically just hassle people with zero probable cause. Screw that.

    It's not a home, it's a public conveyance.

I doubt this would survive a court challenge.

I never realized how many folks here worshipped [illegals]!:(

The ICC/Interstate commerce law allows the searching of buses within 100 miles of the Border. Grey Hound is putting on a show. They know they cannot stop searches.
