    It started out with the rain bands at sunset which formed some low level clouds that dissipated within 10 minutes after they appeared. Now it’s flashing all over the place. I’m watching from my recliner at the sliding door on the 11th floor. weather bug says it’s less than a mile away but I’m not hearing anything just seeing it flash in the clouds
    @DeputyTom are you seeing this?

    I don't mind that. It has been forever since I have gotten to see a good lightning storm.

    I was at work in Oakland on the roof of a 12 story building, on top of a cooling tower at 10:30pm. Hoping the lighting all around didn't want me to die today.

    It didn't. Lol. After crawling through one cooling tower to get to the failed one, soaking me with 105 degree nasty water, I finally changed into dry clothes and am gonna try to ease through the rest of the night.

    Here are a couple photos I took of one of the pop-up storms in Pittsburgh a couple years ago. Just happened to be there at the right time.

    Looks like the University of Cincinnati Research Lab weather modification device has passed it's final operational test. :animlol:

    (Looks like the perfect example of a windshear Microburst that can slam a jet near an airport. Not too bad until it dumps from above)

    Nope, wasn't a microburst and almost no wind associated with it. Just the sky opened up in a torrential downpour.

    My house is near the bottom of that map. Down here in Eighty Four the lights flickered off and on for a long time but we never had a sustained power outage. When the lights really go out, I start counting, one-thousand and one, one-thousand and two, etc. I know that when I reach 6 seconds the generator will automatically remove me from the power grid and start making the electricity for the house. I like the snug feeling that gives me.

    Dave, I had guessed you were south of Waynesburg for some reason. I shoot on Linden Road in North Strabane Township every Monday and have a great friend in Nottingham Township on Valleyview Road where I visit frequently.

    The roads you mentioned are just North of me. My wife has a girlfriend who lives near Valley View. She is widowed now but she and her late husband used to own the Mingo Inn on 519, near Mingo Park. Yep, you come fairly close to my house.

    I think this is a beautiful part of the world, that's why I moved here.

    BTW, I just turned on the water, in spite of a leak in our water line. My wife and I both just took well needed baths. We have been without water for two weeks. It feels so good to be clean!

    The water company is sending a crew to my house tomorrow to repair the leak in the pipe coming to my house. It will be great to have water again. I turn my water off at the meter unless I'm going to be using it. As soon as the load in the washing machine and dishwasher is done I'll turn the water back off, otherwise I get $500 water bills.
