I'm old school, was a reporter/editor for more than 40 years and cut my teeth on hot type and old machines. Couldn't resist snagging this Smith Corona 1967 Classic 12 portable typewriter with hard case and accessories at my local thrift shop for pocket change. Spent the morning tuning it up and cleaning and it's now immaculate and in perfect working order. Ordered new ribbons on eBay and ready to pound some keys. With the case weighs 21 pounds and built with jewel-like precision. The workmanship and materials are first-rate. I still use a computer for most writing (emails, blogs, etc), but when it comes to a note or letter to be mailed I'll turn to my "new" machine. Please share any deals you've found (except for firearms) at thrift shops, antique malls, etc.
