I'm old school, was a reporter/editor for more than 40 years and cut my teeth on hot type and old machines. Couldn't resist snagging this Smith Corona 1967 Classic 12 portable typewriter with hard case and accessories at my local thrift shop for pocket change. Spent the morning tuning it up and cleaning and it's now immaculate and in perfect working order. Ordered new ribbons on eBay and ready to pound some keys. With the case weighs 21 pounds and built with jewel-like precision. The workmanship and materials are first-rate. tya.jpg

I still use a computer for most writing (emails, blogs, etc), but when it comes to a note or letter to be mailed I'll turn to my "new" machine.

Please share any deals you've found (except for firearms) at thrift shops, antique malls, etc.

I just got a nice belt yesterday for $5. My $50 ariat is wearing out after 12 years.

I get button up work shirts there for cheap. Nearly new carhartt shirts $40 new I get for $3. Some have had tags.

Redwing boots $200 new barely worn for $12.

$150 bills khaki jeans for $3.

    Columbia pfg shirt $4.

I have a lot of nice clothes I got for cheap and don’t care if they get wrecked.

I go there all the there all the time but 4/5 times I don’t buy anything. When I do i seem to find a number of good things I like.

I know the store so I can cruise it in like 5 minutes and it’s next to my favorite grocery store so I go every time I buy food.

Those old typewriters are cool. I have used them a lot many years ago.

Pyradex cook wear , and old cast iron, I clean and season and give it to young kids when they leave home. Been doing it for 25 years.

I still have people tell me they still have the cast iron and still use it.
