Police spokeswoman Kate Porras says the shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Timbers Motel. She says the victim died at the scene and no officers were injured. The Daily Sentinel quoted witnesses as saying there were two gunshots followed by police ordering the man to "drop it." Police Chief John Camper told the paper that the man displayed a knife before he was shot. Porras says the shooting is being investigated by a team of local law enforcement agencies as well as the district attorney's office.
