My time was the late '50s to late '60s. In '57 I was 13 years old. during that roughly 10 years there were three very different and distinctive kinds of Rock and Roll.
    1. East coast: Paul Anka, Annette Fullajello, Frankie Avalon Frankie Valle, etc.
    2. Mo Town. The Platters, Joe Tex, Jerry Butler, Shirells, 4 Tops, Temptations, etc.
    3. West coast: Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, Etc.

I love it all but my fave was always the Mo Town sound. The Satins were always a good group and I always wondered why they didn't record any more than they did.

Thanks for the trip back. This was a great post. I expect I'll be on youtube for the next 2 or 3 hours.

I love this kind of music. I have tix to see Jersey Boys again next week. My mom took me to a lot of shows when I was younger...the Shirelles, the Platters, Frankie Avalon w/ Annette Funicello, etc.

It makes me think of a better time. The music is full of hope, dreams, longing and emotion. Way better than the cRAP out there now. Now for that kind of music you have to listen to country.
