I think that the options for satellite-fed, in-cockpit weather is the greatest revolution in GA technology since GPS. For a total of $1700.00, I have what would have been the envy of most bizjet operators for $100,000.00 just a couple of years ago. I bought the tablet PC on eBay for $650.00, and the WxWorx satellite receiver and software from TrueFlight . It shows: Nexrad Radar METARS/TAF's TFR's Winds Aloft Lightning Strikes Fuel Prices IR Sat imagery Landsat overlay TAWS-like terrain and obstacle awareness and alerts ALL approach plates, SIDS & STARS Overlays and ALT warnings on all approaches & plenty of stuff I can't even remember. The moving map is driven by WAAS GPS, and it is powered by an independent 12V battery pack in the bagggage compartment. Anyway, I think it's pretty doggone neat for the price.
