It's been 16 years since I last rode and back then, it was a GSXR-600/crotch rocket during my college years.

I wanted something comfortable and to be able to take the girlfriend on so I found this '91 Suzuki Intruder 750 with 16k on the ticker. Learning to ride again was challenging at first, practiced solo in a large empty parking lot for a while and then practiced 2-up in the same lot. The maiden voyage was slow and steady but we loved every minute of it.

Riding in FL can be dangerous, not only the heat but the old timers and tourists as well. We try to ride at night when it's cooler and less people are on the road. Wish me luck and be safe, all.

I rode for about 1/2 hr, yesterday. Got the farmer's tan on both arms to prove it. Man, it's hot in FL on a bike.

Being it's a '91, a few tanks with a good carb cleaner couldn't hurt. Tiny holes in carb parts like to gum up over the years.

    Be safe and enjoy.

Personally, I would not ride in this day and time. Too many distracted drivers ofll ages texting, talking or gaming on their phones...

    Congrats and enjoy.

When I ride I simply tell myself "no one will see me" and that's worked for me

I used to be all crotch rockety but cruiser is my speed now

    Have fun man

    Thanks all.

It's weird spending a lot of money on something that's not a gun...

Heh, heh, heh.......no doubt. Eyes definitely get a scanning workout thinking this way. It keeps you on two wheels, though, and not caked to someone's windshield.

Crazy good deals on older rides kept as garage queens.

    Always been the case

You paid a fraction of original cost and a sliver of current costs

Yep. Garage kept bikes not ridden much lasts for years, not to mention the 750 Intruder was already bullet proof reliable.

Congrats. I always thought that the Intruders were kinda cool. I've neen fond of Suzuki bikes, and used to ride one of their sport bikes.

Mrs. Taterhead let's me pretty much be me. Two hardline exceptions: no chewing tobacco and no motorcycles. Don't miss chew, but do get the itch to ride now and then.

Hard to believe that it has been more than 20 years!

    Enjoy!

Enjoy your new ride. Keep your High Beam on so they can see you.
It is too damn hot in the summer to ride down here. My wife and I both agree that we'll wait until it cools down a bit. Plus HD's tend to put out some real heat.

Great bike, that was my first but the Intruder 800. Easy to ride and handle.

When I was hitting 50, and I became interested in getting back on bikes after a 30+ year hiatus ... and was starting to try cigars (guys at work) ... my wife asked me what the hell I was thinking and if I wasn't going through some kind of midlife crisis, why wasn't I worried about the health risks of riding and smoking cigars, etc.

Well, I looked at it this way ...

I was more concerned about going to work and catching a bullet on any given day, and bikes and cigars were the sort of potential risks that I could moderate to some degree. For one thing, I attended a MSF safety/riding class for riding a bike, to remember everything I'd forgotten and learn what I'd not learned in the first place as a young rider.

For another, I wanted to enjoy some pursuits that helped me relax from the daily grind of police work. I saw them more as potential stress relief than added risk, as long as I was suitably cautious and responsible in my pursuit of them.

Lastly? I gave her the choice of choosing my midlife vices and hobbies for me. The options from which she could choose were bikes and cigars ... or blonds and brunettes.

I got bikes and cigars. :)

That motorcycle itch sure infests a person. I stumbled across this the other day and all these ideas popped into my head.
I'd love to get pulled over by some young cop doing around 150 or so. I'd take out my false teeth and say "what's up Sonny?" I'd love to see the expression on his, or better yet a her, face. A major problem with that though is that I still have my teeth so I guess that item on my bucket list will have to wait a few more years.
