So I spoke with a lawyer concerning the brand new Red Flag Laws here in Nevada. They go into effect in The new year.

I will not go into details but it comes down to if I’m served with
Red flag order, plead the 5th and quota the 4th and be prepared to spend a year in court.

If anyone has concerns about how to prepare for such a thing please seek competent legal advise.

    Jim,

Weight loss is a very, very hard task. I do not know anyone that has loss over 50 pounds and kept it off for more than 3 years. The exception to this is those that do it for a medical reason such as you and I do hope you succeed!

Is surgery an option for you with the band thing they do? I know two people that lost 100 pounds in 18 months for health reasons with this process. One was an out of control diabetic that is no longer on medication and the other had breathing and heart issues. These two lead much better lives now, exercise together and share a meal when they eat out.

    Wish you the best!

    Today is a good day.

I was able to remember four things when shopping. Nothing was really important so I wanted to challenge myself to shop without a list.

I even remembered to NOT buy TP and light bulbs. I have bought a lot recently, like every time I went to the store for the past few months. We have enough of both to last us a while.

So it’s a really good day.

Man I feel for you. I had a stroke on father's day this year and even though my functionality has mostly come back, losing my mental abilities scares me the most.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. My wife is diabetic and her memory is shot.
It's a life changing (for all) event.

I'm sorry to hear about your condition. You mentioned you were AF, find yourself a good VSO (veteran service officer in your area and get a claim started if you haven't done so already.

A claim, with a favorable rating, would give you some extra money each month, and depending on the percentage, might qualify you for lifetime medical care prescriptions etc from the VA.

    Best of luck to you.

I'm sending you the good vibes. I'm not there yet, but at 44 I'm already start to feel old. Just like you, I did quite a lot with my life and sometimes it feels like the mileage starts showing, despite fairly young age. I wish you the best Jim. Good luck.

The more weight you lose, the better your memory will be.

Are you under unusual stress. We are starting to call memory issues, “stressheimers” on occasion. Also depression can cause memory issues.
Pardon me if I already posted this, I’m having issues as well.

Jim I'm sorry to hear about this problem you're having. You're seeking appropriate medical assistance which is most important. I don't know if it might be of any help to you, but you've maybe seen from one of my posts sometime that I'm a lawyer. And I'm the 'in the trenches' kind ... most of my work is hearings where witnesses are called, they testify and get cross-examined, arguments are composed as you speak. I do some writing, but mostly I do thinking on my feet. And while old lawyers have wisdom and experience, what they gradually lose over time are those quick fire synapses that you need to pull the right idea out of your ass at just the right moment. I'm not old, working on 53, but I know I'm not as on fire mentally as I was when I started out. So whenever I'm about to go into a courtroom for something important, I chew gum first. Simple, but nothing stimulates the mind safely like chewing gum. Caffeine doesn't, nicotine doesn't. So my first suggestion would be have a stick of gum when you want or know you need to be a little sharper. Second, I'd suggest you take up old school video games. Platformers (Mario, Donkey Kong Country, etc) that require precise timing, and quick puzzle games like tetris and puyo-puyo. Racing games like Mario Kart too. Work your brain for fast problem solving and response, and it will benefit all other functions.

Maybe I'm wrong about these suggestions and it's just a placebo thing, but I like chewing gum and video games so there's no downside.

Start exercising, if you haven’t done so yet. Walking will help you.
