Those birds are a lot of fun.
My second or third RC was one like that (different brand) that my Wife bought me for Christmas. I put a lot of time on it flying at the house. Finally, late one evening the throttle stuck open when I was fixing to land. After multiple tries to land, even trying to break the prop, I flew up the fence line with the intention of crashing into some high weeds just inside the fence, it was getting dark.
All the sudden the plane stopped in mid air just above the fence.;P
I said to my Wife, "Why are you laughing? You bought the airplane".;f
A good reason to do a thorough preflight check of controls and clevises.;f
A guy at my R/C aircraft club flew his trainer (similar to mine) into an irrigation boom a couple weeks ago at the bottom of a loop. The boom sheared off one wing and a support cable just below sheared off the other, and the fuselage kept going at full throttle into the field. The rubber bands that held the wing on were still in place, holding about a 10" wingspan in place - it was like something you'd see in a cartoon, with balsa flying and the *gong* of the irrigation pipe.
