The thread about trajectories and zeroing got me to thinking it would be nice to have a chronograph.

Even though I don't reload anymore, it would nice to know how various ammo I shoot is really performing, and how consistent it is.

I haven't kept up with the technology. So, have at it. What are the good brands, the features to look for, and likely street prices?

Since I'm not reloading, I don't want to spend too much and probably don't need a high end model. I'm looking for portability, reasonable accuracy, and a good value cost-wise.

    What say you?

    CED.

However, there are more portable and less expensive units out there.

Thanks. They seem to have decent reviews.

$200 isn't a cakewalk for me, but I was about to order one--then the garage door opener went up in smoke this morning. Yep, about $200.00. I hate when that happens.

BTW, here's how out of the chrony loop I was--I didn't know Oehler stopped making them.

I've had an Ohler for an eon; always works great, and the company has been very supportive (like when I shot the skyscreens trying to chrono a shot load in my .38).
Chronos are fun, but you'll discover you don't use it much.

I've got the CED Millennium and an Oehler Model 12. The Model 12 was is a dinosaur but the CED works great. I have the older one with an IR port and print to an HP portable printer while I am at the range. It does it all for me. I also have the IR screen set up. I do need to drag it out and try it at sundown one of these evenings.
