Came home from work yesterday and my GF had little shrimpit in my room lol. He is a chihuahua and ****zu mix. We have been checking the pund for for awhile, then this guy popped up so we got him. His is 4 months old and tiny! He is awsome! He runs around wide open for 10 minutes then will just pass out lol. He has only barked twice. He is pretty good about going on his puppy pad but has some accidents. Can anyone tell me some good treats for him, being he is so small I dont want to give him the hard bones. Also any advice for potty training and how to go about training him not to chew on things would be great. I know he is a puppy and he is gonna chew but I want to get started as young as possible.

Most people recommend crate trainning for the quickest way to house train, but i dont know much about that, something to look into. Congratulation on the dog.

I would definitely crate train him. I know that IAMS makes some puppy treats that I used to give to my Miniature Schnazuer, she seemed to like them. You might look into a small kong toy, they are solid rubber and dogs seem to like chewing on them. Congrats on the pup.

Congrats! Crate training is the way to go. There is tons of info on it if you Google it. Have fun not sleeping for the next few weeks

glad to hear you went to the pound and picked this little guy out. all of my best dogs came from the pound. get him a lot of chew toys and keep everything you don't want him chewing out of reach.

Dont go into the treats real heavy, my Yorkie wont eat anything else now(kinda like kids and Mcdonald's food) , and some treats can be harmful to your pup's health. You've done well, he'll be your best buddy before long!

Crate training is good. When our Golden was a baby we were very consistant on the potty training. And within a few days he was letting us know when he had to go and he would sleep ALL night in his crate next to our bed. He was really a very good pup. Good luck.

Keep him chewing leather strips and he won't be chewing on your house, etc.

years ago one of my dogs chewed through a rail of the deck, and took a half-moon out of the siding.

    We buy leather strips now.

Congrats on the new puppy. Quite a cute little tyke. Always take the pup out the same door, go with the pup and praise pup for doing business outside. I would recommend alyways going outside with pup because they like it and pup is so small that the little rascal will be safer with you or gf out with pup. Feed pup food for little dogs and give common sense treats and toys. Good luck as a pet parent.
