I just bought a glock 17 serial AA999. Does that mean that this was the 999th G17 made? Also after the austrian proof it says CTF on the barrel. What does that stand for?

    Congrats on a nice snag!

Strangely though, it does not mean it's the 999the G17 made. The CTF is a date code that shows it was made in October of 1984. The AA guns were imported to the US in October of 1986, and were the 13th batch of 1000 G17's imported.

However, the only G17's that were imported to the US *and* made before Oct, 84 are the guns with the prefix of AF. The date code on them shows they were made in July of 1984.

Although I have my own theory, I have no credible knowledge of why they were made/imported this way.
