I'm repairing/restoring a semi auto with a satin nickel finish.

On the tops of the slide are several rust spots. Almost like pin pricks the spots are so small.

Any suggestions on removing them and preventing them in the future?

In the past I've used OOOO steel wool and oil but is there anything better?

I think this pistol lived a holster for years.

Any thoughts or comments would be welcome.

Nope.

You can scour it alway all you want, but it's under the plate now.
The only fix is stripping and replating it.

Jason D., thanks but the spots are not that deep.

The size of the rust spots don't warrant replating the entire slide.

They are almost like "pin pricks" of rust. About the size of a needle point.
