If you decide to turn your life around while running from cops, don't do it with a gun in your hand...

I bumped into a newly promoted BPD sergeant at the gym. He was skipped over for promotion, sued and was finally promoted. He is working the night shift and said they often hit the street with 8 officers. I was a Lt. at the same district many years ago and our constant was 21. Easy to see why proactive police work is unhealthy, and murders are > than one per day YTD.

"I'm giving you an opportunity to go to school and not be in jail pending this trial. The curfew is 1 p.m., 7 days a week," the judge said.

The next day at about 3 p.m., Curtis Deal, 18, was fatally shot by a Baltimore police officer.

That would have been his 3rd HGV in a week

Young, dumb, with no hope and out of control.

No concern for his life or others.

How many people had he victimized already?

How many would have certainly victimized if he would have been a second quicker?

Good shoot, glad the officer went home OK, and glad the POS is off the street.

Off topic and a bit judemental, but the officer's tattoos seem unprofessional to me. Any officers with more knowledge on the subject?

One is too many. Never should have been out in the first place. All BS, wondering the history on what judge, always such a pushover?

Considering the popularity of body art, you're probably going to continue to see it. Attracting good candidates for LE positions has become increasingly more difficult, and relaxing some of the personal grooming standards is probably going to continue to be necessary.

Besides, when you see the huge prevalence of body art among professional athletes, it's hardly surprising that young men decide to emulate it. It's becoming quite commonplace.

More leeway regarding body art and facial hair is likely to become more the norm in coming years, even in LE.

"His death raised questions about whether the system is too lenient"

    Ya think?

Good shoot. You don't even see the LE's gun come up until the perp's gun is clearly in view and he doesn't fire until the perp raises his gun at him. I don't know if it's textbook but I can't imagine it being much better handled than that. And I hope the officer is dealing with this well.

I feel for this perp's family. But he was a POS dealing death for dollars and he wasn't going to change. And that judge should be publicly ridiculed and fired. Go back to work in the pubic defenders office.

Fantastic reaction time and marksmanship under pressure demonstrated by the LEO. Glad he went home safely.
