    No love for the cheap, crappy, Chinese off brand battery?

    Some of the knock off batteries can be dangerous - especially if used at higher power levels and in series. This is much less of a concern in a flashlight verses something really demanding like a personal vaporizer. Ymmv, but I’ve heard tales of woe regarding significant runtime and heat issues with cheapie batteries.

    Orbtronic. They use known good quality cells, (Panasonic, Sanyo, Sony, etc.). If it says 3500 Mah, I usually get a little better than that on my charger after a break in cycle. I got 4970 Mah out of the Thrunite Catapults 26650 I got recently. Thanks Shadowlands ;)

    Use a known good battery source, or your flashlight might wind up a couple hundred yards away!

    I finally got the Nitecore P12 (2015). Nice light. It's replacing my beloved 4Sevens Quark Tactical for EDC. The Switchback 2.0 ring fits perfectly.

    Orbtronic has a 5750 mah 26650 that extends the runtimes on the Thrunite Catapult V6 and the TC20 significantly. Great batteries, and not at all expensive. Great cells. Their 18650's are top notch too.

    That's amazing but it must be very floody because the candela is only 11,000. I guess because it has 4 LEDs. Would be good if you want to light up wide areas instead of a hotspot.

    Orbtronics are the only 18650s that I use, great batteries and great customer service.

    You made a great choice my friend, I can't say good enough things about the P12. I don't know why anyone would choose the Fenix PD35 over a P12, not that the PD35 isn't awesome. The lights are almost identical in performance and output but the P12 has a true moonlight 1 lumen mode which comes in very handy. The P12 is also $20 cheaper and a steal at $42.

    For those of you that haven’t owned a flashlight with a moonlight, or firefly mode - you’ll use it!

    The modlite OKW 18650 handheld is probably a little too expensive of a handheld for most, but it's the best on the market for what it does.

    I'd never heard of Sofirn, but when I got my hands on the Sofirn Q8, oh my. I sold all of my Maglites and Streamlights. The Q8 is a monster!

    I love this light! $9.00. Awesome! It throws almost as far as the Catapult V6. It's very close. It's bigger/heavier and built like a tank. Great deal.
    And the battery is a fat beast. No issues. I've been keeping an eye on it and only charge it when I'm there. So far, no worries.

    Take Don's advice. Look at that specific website.

    Only you know the following:
    1. kid's age;
    2. application by the child;
    3. whether the child is diligent in mainlining things.

    All I do is walk the dog at night. So, I have an under $10 18650 flashlight, rechargeable batteries that will take at least 1000 recharges and a top of the line re charger.

    Yep, I love that mode. The Nitecore P12 (2015)'s lowest mode is 1 lumen, just about perfect.

    I have a Surefire Z2 that is still alive after 10 years on a
    duty belt.
    Last couple years, I have used the Jetbeam BC 25. Very bright, durable, and fits into the Surefire belt holster
    Streamlight Protac 2AAA for edc.
    I also have a Fenix ?? In my go bag that is pretty nice.
    So many options for lights these days. I like the Olight rechargeable line up and the “duel fuel” idea is genius. image.jpg
