who makes a good left handed pistol? what about holsters?
What are you going to do with it? I have found that Glock is the best. I like it for many reasons. As a left handed shooter, I can kick butt on a rightie on speed loads. I have never had any problems with Glocks being a leftie. Wheel guns are also fun.
the glock extended mag release makes one handed mag drops very difficult for me. I've never tried a stock release, but have been told thats better.
Take a look at a H&K USP. You only want an even numbered variant. Those have the controls on the right of the pistol. An additional bonus is the the magazine release is truely ambidextorus.
Overall a top quality pistol. None better.
I'm a lefty and I can make some damn quick mag changes just by using my left index finger to drop the mag and simultainiously grabbing the new mag with my right hand.
The little Bersa Thunder 45 is fully ambidextrous and a really good weapon to boot. I was skeptical...very skeptical 'til I used one. I tried to break it with Texas Ammo loads. Nada. It kept firing, and accurately. Disassembled it. Nada. Ain't never hiccupped. Now it's my car gun.
how did yours do? i've looked at bersa, they don't look like bad guns.
I shoot left with handguns and believe the HK P7M8 wins as the best ambi pistol. Some Sig's have a reversible magazine release, the Kahr's such as a P9 or P40 are thin and easy for left hand operation. Some of the S&W auto's such as the 3913 have ambi decockers and are thin enough for a lefty to work the slide and mag release. I have no problem with 1911's but the ambi safty aren't as reliable as the single side safty.
Glock IMO makes the best Lefty gun...Holsters ..GOOD LUCK holster mfgrs treat us like freaks!;g
I carry my 23 or 19 in a The Answer by Tucker Gunleather. They make them in Southpaw.
I run Sig 220's from the port side with no problems. My trigger finger runs the controls...decocker and mag release. The slide stop is another story. However, I've been taught to not release the slide using the stop. I just reach over the top of the slide and rack it.
Holsters? All you need to know is Milt Sparks. They'll be happy to build you a LH holster and a grand one it will be. I have a 55BN (OWB) for my 220. Great product.
