My wife and I just got back from the vet. We had to put down a good friend. Phil, the Siberian Husky, had ruptured a disk in his spine and had lost all control of his hind-quarters. Because of the amount of pain, and the very limited possibility of recovery, we choose to put him down. We only had Phil for a year, but he had such a huge heart that the entire family fell deeply in love with him as soon as we saw him. We picked him up from Free Spirit Rescue in Harvard, Illinois. He had been living there for three years, and was roughly 5 years old at the time we adopted him. He had been the victim of abuse and neglect by his original owner, that is how he wound up at the rescue. You couldn't have asked for a better dog/companion. Loving, helpful, playful, loved the kids and the crazy Great Dane/Doberman puppy we have. Phil, you will be missed so very much.
