Well, GTers, gonna be a long couple days for the ILgunguy family. My wifes younger brother was hit head on by a drunk driver sunday at 415am on his way to work. The guy crossed the center line and hit his neon head on with a chevy blazer. My BIL was pronounced dead at the scene and the scumbag DUI clown lived. He gets discharged from the hospital the day we bury my BIL.

I gotta say, I loved my BIL like my own brother. He was 26, had a 22 year old fiancee and two kids. He was a hard worker, had a good job and provided for his family. Insisted that his soon to be wife stay at home and raise family. He had his head on his shoulders firmly, and some asshat killed him so he could be drunk(sorry Im bitter it just gets me to see a young guy who does everything right have this happen to him).

I have been doing everything for my wife that I can, which isnt much except hold her tight and tell her I love her and that we will get through it. I have helped organize the dinner afterwards and drafted my extended family to help.

I guesss I just dont know what else to do to help her. They were really close. Her mom ran out on them when my wife was 12 and she helped raise her two little brothers. She is devastated.

    Anyway, thanks for listening GNG!

I'm so sorry for your loss, you'll be in my thoughts.

I lost my brother and SIL to a drunk driver, they left my niece and nephew behind and I ended up raising them. Wonderful kids, I only wish their parents could see them now

Sorry this happened. This happened to my 1st cousin two years ago.A drunk was speeding going the wrong way on a divided highway. He was sentenced recently to 14 years with credit for two served.Funny thing is ,there was no talk or complaining about the light sentence from anyone in the family. It really doesn't matter because it's not bringing her back and what's done is done. The day it happened I would have given all I had to have the drunk in my presence. She was like a sister to me.I could talk to her about anything(didn't hurt she was a psychologist).Twelve years ago I had a bad split with a longtime GF.I decided to quit my(good)job and move to another city for a change. She let me stay with her til I found a job and got a place.Today. I'm so glad I made the move but there is a big void. She was my connection to"the country" and was my only family here in the city.

Anyway,I guess what I'm trying to say is I know similar pain which makes me feel even more sympathy for you and your family.God bless.

Thanks everyone! I am trying to be the strong one that gets things taken care of. I come from a family where that has been expected of me since I was a teen(my siblings are near worthless).

The drunk is going to be charged with reckless homicide, not that it matters much. He probably wont do a lot of time and it definately wont bring back my BIL.
