Going on a cruise from Spain, to Italy, then France, how worried should I be?

Soooo, what I am getting out of this here advise: the op will need to have a "security team", preferably some of the ole Blackwater guys...or else he gonna be robbed or worse..and then he need a on-call physician to monitor his exposure 24/7 and a pastor ......with a last will and testament pre-canned, ready to deploy at a moments notice.....or.. he will probably be fine......this sounds alot like sky diving....

I think by May the decision to go or not go will be abundantly clear.

I hope you end up going.

    Your choice.

I lived and worked offshore for many years, 28 days on 28 days off and working for 3 to 5 month stretches offshore were common for me. One year was 9 months offshore.

Crew change days and it was not uncommon for one sick SOB to get on the platform or FPSO and within a few days the whole place would be sick and quarantined.........that happened quite regular.....just sayin....

Hope all the best, but having said that......

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Great advice. However where your cabin is located makes a difference with regards to sea sickness. Higher level decks, farther forward move the most.

GF and I took a 5 day cruise from San Diego to Vancouver 2 years ago on the Holland American Zaandam. We had to move our stateroom because she got seriously ill with sea sicknesss.

Trip at beginning or end of May? The longer you can wait, the better.

The good news is that according to some theories, by May the Civid-19 should be on the decline due to the warmer weather and longer daylight. The bad news is there will still be cases around and people will still be getting infected, albeit fewer and fewer. The bad-er news (as already pointed out) is that a cruise ship is a petri dish.

I'm at day 3 of a 14 day Caribbean cruise. They did not and will not allow anyone on board that has been to any of the areas around the globe in question. Any staff that has been/through these areas were removed several weeks ago. Only 400 on this ship so we are not dealing with thousands.

I have not seen one person wearing a mask.

We do have N95 masks with us. Not sure if they are available anywhere now.

We also took 3-4 weeks extra pills just in case.

Wife is a retired travel agent and we are prepared to abandon ship and get back to the states on very, repeat very, short notice.

    Quoted for truth.
When in France, be sure to greet the shopkeeper and ask if you may look around. It is the local custom, and you will be surprised how much they appreciate you following it.

What a bunch of NEGATIVE NANCYS... Stay home ? Don't go anywhere? Phoey !
Not that we would travel to CHINA (NEVER HAD ANY DESIRE TO)
We are off to A B C Islands, Southern Caribbean, March 2 ... cruise # 29 over the past 15 years.
Yeah, I got food poisoning once, (Caesar salad?) and MrsDaka had a cold once, but I would not give up the cruising just yet.
Use a lot of wipes and sanitizer, keep your hands clean, and away from your face, watch for "sicky" people sneezing, ...HAVE FUN

It sounds like you're prepared for obviously sick people.
Just remember this virus is airborne now. Just breathing will spread it and the person doesn't even have to be sick.

I'm known for making quick and sometimes not so smart decisions, but I'll tell you, that is one cruise I would not go on. I'd stay in my country (right here in the USA) until they get a handle on this virus.
Good luck to you on the decision you're going to have to make.

Nora Virus is still around to. Wouldn't take the trip even if it were free.

Do you think a cruise ship would really be more hazardous than our normal group activities such as church, school, gymnasiums, grocery stores, concerts, shopping malls and Wal-Mart's?
