Has any one heard of this, Glock is placing a lock on their pistols the key hole is right behind the mag well.

God I hope this is not going on with Glock to I am so sick of every new gun coming with a key so I can lock it up that is a bunch of BS. Like we are children that need to be watched and controlled.

With most other manufacturers (S&W, H&K pistols, some newer Rugers, Walther, Remington, etc.) you don't get a choice. I like having the choice and thank Glock that they are not forcing this crap on me.

What's the problem with the integral lock?

I just ordered a new Glock and specified it have the lock.

It doesn't seem to be an issue of consequence.

It is the principle of the thing if Glock caves in to the "you are to stupid to take care of yourself" crowd then who is left? I hate the federal government and resent them being involved so heavily in my life. Government has its place taking care of the boarders is one of them and they are not doing a good job of that. Assuming everyone is a terrorist is not one of there jobs either. :soap:

The problem is Mr.Murphy. What can go wrong will. I'd rather not introduce another variable that may someday, no matter how unlikely, cause an otherwise reliable pistol to fail.

The problems with the intergral locks on the Glocks have been an inability to remove the dimple type key. It has a tendency to get stuck in the lock. There are not a lot of these problems, but when a problem does occur this tends to happen

If you get a Glock without it, there is no after market solution to put one in.

They've offered them (officially) for years but I have yet to meet anyone that has seen one- even Glock dealers.

Sounds like a great idea to me. They did it right by having a slot in the backstrap of the grip from which a metal tab protrudes when locked. There is no doubt whether the gun is locked. You can feel it and see it.

I would like to have this option. There are places I can't carry in California. Being able to disable (and unload) the weapon for a short period would be convenient. Much easier than popping the slide and taking the barrel with me.

I'll take some photos when I get my 34 with the integral lock.

I assume the factory lock is well-engineered. I'll only be using the pistol for target shooting, so keeping it locked is not a problem for me.

I have seen the locks - a dealer had one that I operated. They totally lock the gun up so it is inoperable, to the point even if you have a live round in the chamber, you cannot eject it or fire it.

I believe Glock did this to accomdate certain states that require them.

The integral lock could be a helpful feature in certain instances to make a gun inoperable and perhaps it may be helpful in resale of the pistols should more states require this feature in the future.

the problem is firearm laws occur incrementally. they strip your rights piece by piece till everything is illegal.

thought I heard Glock abandoned the internal locks. remember a number of manufactures working on models with internal locks, loaded chamber indicator. they seem to have abandoned it except for Ruger with their P345 and discontinue the P97.

buy firearms with the extra junk states will definately try to incrementally install laws requiring the junk probably even worse stuff. more parts more things that can go wrong and stop your pistol up.

magazine disconnect on your glock anyone?
