The 23C is a sweet gun. You can always put a non-compensated barrel in it if you want to shoot IDPA, or other sports which don't allow compensators. 23Cs are very nice pistols.

The other good competitor is the G19, which is a 9mm, the same size. If you want to shoot a lot and don't reload, 9mm is the way to go for cost reasons.

I would suggest getting a non comp barrel if used for protection. Retention or vehicle positions can put that hot gas in your own face.

I would look at the 23 because it has Adj.sights and the 23c has fixed sights.

Uh...not all new 23's have adjustable sights. Bought one last week sans adjustable sights.

Rickyca: Would recommend borrowing or renting a G23 (or any other handgun) to shoot before making a decision. It was a good match for me but your hand size/proportions, or other considerations may vary.

    I own a 23C and I carry with a non-ported barrel.

Actually, I set out to buy a 23 but I could not find one in my area for a reasonable price without waiting two months. I finally found a 23C and the price was a little less than the 23 so I said what the heck;e

    Never regretted that choice!

I love to play with the ported barrel at the range ;)

    I have a M23 & a M23C love them both.
The only problem is with the M23C, after a few rounds, my front night sight gets all sooted over to the point I cant even see the night sights in the dark.

I had a G23C for quite some time. Loud. Lots of muzzle blast. I figured If I was going to put up with that much muzzle blast, it was going to be for a good reason!

I traded my G23C for a G29! NOW, the muzzle blast is slightly reduced, yet the velocity is simply amazing! Those Double Tap rounds really let the G29 shine!

I have G23C and have no problem with the flash or anything else and it is a blast at the range! I also use it as my carry gun. BUY IT!
