Is the Glock Tac Light any good?
it's not the greatest light if you can get one for cheap get it. I got mine for $50 new. it does what it is intented to do, put a decent flashlight on your gun in a small package. it gets the job done.
I bought one when they first came out. I had some problems and it had to go back to Glock. They sent me a new tactical light and it's great! I have a Surefire and a HK MKII on my Tactical. Both are great lights, but were expensive. The new Glock tactical light is much better then my old one. It came in a much better case for storage. The light fit much tighter to my G19 the old I sent. My first on had some play and wiggled when attached. My release buttons on the original stuck out way to far and were too easy to release. The new buttons for releasing the light are tight and flush. The switch to turn the light on were flush on the original and the new the stick out with little wings for easy of operation. I spent some time shooting with my original and when I took my new one out to the range I could not believe how much brighter it was. Even when my original light was new and had fresh batteries it was no where near the brightness of my HK tactical light. My new Glock light is as bright as my HK tactical light. I am very happy with my new Glock tactical light. I also got a neat Glock pin when they sent me a new light. Glock also sent me extra batteries and bulb.
GLOCK KICKS BUTT! I no longer carry my P7M8 (10 years) and shoot nothing but my G19. I am a Glock believer. I wish I converted a long time ago; it would have saved me a lot of money and time. I could have bought the entire line up of 9mm for the price and crap I went through with STI!
Stick with either the SF X200 series or the Laser Devices LAS/TAC 2.
I have no problems with my Glock light. Can't beat it for the money.
I just got mine yesterday, tired it out last nite in the dark, even with parking lot security lites its bright better than 200 yards. I buy glock for glock. Hope this helps you
I had the Glock light and sold it. It was a decent light for the money, but I didn't like the quality of the beam itself. Even with the adjustable bezel it just had too many rings/darkspots/halos. I have the M3 light now and it's much better in every way. Locks up tighter, feels sturdier, better and brighter output etc...I also like the bulb setup on the M3 better than the press in Glock bulbs.
Mine works great. I like the glock light a lot. It matches perfectly cause its made out of the same stuff I believe. And its made by glock ! cant go wrong with it.
I acquired my Glock light for free, so the price was definitely right. It rides on my G19 when in "house gun" mode but comes off for CCW. I have not seen any holsters that accomodate the Glock light, at least non-duty holsters.
The light itself does a good job. While there are a few rings/artifacts in the beam, it lights up the night quite brightly and makes it easy to see the target & the outline of your sights. Fit and finish seem fine, and I have checked out the SureFire X200. As soon as SureFire offers the X200 for free, I will get one of them too.
fobus makes one and a couple others like bladetech fobus is a type of universal because of the open design.
It doesnt look like it would break away good enough to get fast draw action. Seems like where the strap is, the light could get stuck. If you have one how well does it perform in these areas ?
I have that same Fobus. It's a pos just like the rest of their holsters. I took the paddle totally of mine. It's just something to cover the trigger of the nightstand gun when my kids are here.
I'd be on one in a second if Sidearmor would build one for the Glock light.
you don't pull up with it, you pull kinda down and out. I like the holster, i have never had a problem with any fobus holster, and for the price you can't complain compaired to other light holsters. i carry it when it gets dark outside where the light might be needed, because you can detach the light with the gun still holstered.
I like it, if you don't your only out $25-$30 instead of $75+ like other holsters.
I had been on the same search.
Blade-Tech will build one:
from their email-
Check out our SR (Sting Ray) belt holster on our website , may be what you
are looking for. We can do that with or without the light.
I like the SideArmor, too, but they did not make one to fit my frame. So, I bought a SureFire X200B, and ordered a Blade-Tech.
Same here, I emailed Sidearmor to see if they planned to build holsters for the glock light and they said no
It fits the pistol great looks good and all that stuff, shot it the other day and was on the money with no adjustment needed as far as I was concerned. However didn't enjoy having to use hope's 9 to clean the lite. Doesn't matter if its on a compact or standard size your still going to need to clean it with hope's 9. Unless someone here has a better way to clean it. windex sure wouldn't do it.
Did you try using a little oil on the lense before you shot?
I guess that would work didn't think I would have too. But then again didn't think it would carbon up like it did. Its a good idea will try it thank you
Does anyone know if the Glock Tac Light will work with a 2nd gen 17? What type of light will? Any suggestions?
The Glock light was designed to work with Gen 3 Glocks (with rails) in the front dust cover area (in front of the trigger guard and below the barrel). I haven't shot my G21 with the light attached to it yet but do think that the light is pretty good for the money (specially since mine was free with purchase of gun!) I have several Streamlights and a SureFire Aviator and while the quality of the beam on the Glock tac light is a little less its just about as bright as all three of those lights. I was really impressed with it and for its price and the way it attaches to the gun you can't beat it with a stick. The toggles to turn it off or on are ambitexterous (sp?) and very easy to control for short light bursts to check rooms or just to turn the light on or off. The Glock tac light is a very well thought-out accessory for your Glock. It's also very bright!
