So, Smith and Wesson has a new M&P slimline 9mm, Taurus has one, Ruger has one... they are very popular now...

Glock hasn't figured out that a glock single stack slim 9mm would be a big seller, but every other company has! Why is that?

Oh, I don't know. I don't think I'd buy one. My G26 carries very well indeed and I like the capacity of the 26. Don't think I'd want fewer rounds.

Jerk. That exclamation point led me to believe you finally heard what many of us have been waiting to hear.

I'm fine with the double stacks, but my wife would love a single stack Glock 9mm for her hands.

I would agree, is it really so much smaller than the 26 that it would be worth losing even more capacity? Personally having a pistol that was 6-10 mm thinner wouldn't really excite me, especially at the cost of multiple rounds.

A 26 is on my short list but I carry my 19 every day and I have no problem concealing it, so I'm not even sure how much I would really carry the 26.

Glock 26 will take G19,G17 & G18 mags, but if go to a single stack you will lose this ability as well as other parts being interchangable for fewers rounds & much reduction in size.My G26 is plenty small and compliments my G19 & two G17's perfectly.

Sources say they are working on a carbine then a G1911. Probably a polymer frame similar to Rock River Arms.

    a single stack Glock???

Hell, they cant get their Gen4's to run right....they need to fix their current guns before they start coming out with something new....

You buy a new Glock now you have to spend several months and a bank-full of money on ammo trying to get the damn thing to not pelt you in the face with brass.....

Glock has really screwed up......and i am a Glock LOVER :(

Posters on another forum have indicated some functional problems with brand new S&W shield.

My G26 carries great if they made a thinner but longer grip single stack with less rounds not sure if I change. I wanna check out the Shield but most likely will keep the G26 for deep concealment.

A carbine? Like a Bull Pup 9mm, ya think?

    That will be interesting.

G1911 sounds like a bad idea, though.

Why would Glock want to try to compete in an already crowded market. Unless military or law enforcement have a need they would be wasting their time. The model 36 isn't exactly flying off shelves locally. To try to stay competitive in the civilian SD market they would have to be constantly coming up with new models and gimmicks. I'm not ready for a Glock 380 with a pink frame.

A local Florida gun manufacturer makes a 9mm that looks exactly like a baby Glock. A cop I know has one. I think he paid through the nose for it. He loves it.

At first blush I thought I would want one.

    But I have a G27 and a single stack Kahr MK40 Elite.
The Kahr is a great gun.
But 5+1 gives me the heebie jeebies.
9+1 and two 15 round reloads just makes me happy.

I carry the Kahr as backup

That would be a Diamondback DB9. You are right about it looking like a Glock.

As to the original question, the simple answer is why should they when they are unable to keep up with the orders that they have?
A general rule to prosperity is to do what you can do best if you want success. Glock is doing that. There is little benefit for Glock to enter the small single stack nine market and do battle with the established players.
