Are they worth buying to have around? I hate paying a gunsmith for something so trivial as installing sights. For that matter I can never find a gunsmith willing to do it! Should I buy the Glockmeister sight tool?

I have the Glockmeister Sight Tool, it works great. I would recommend it.

Get a rear sight tool and a front sight tool.
I went ahead and ordered the Glockmeister tool as it comes with both. I watched some youtube videos featuring it and they convinced me. Also the front sight tool helped in my decision, as I see on one of my Glocks which I bought with the Trijicons already installed, the front sight bolt is pretty hard to get to as it is against the front of the slide. Best to get the correct tool for the job, I think.

The glock sight tool is ok if you are going to do a few sights, but they do wear out quickly, and parts start to bend under under lots of use. I have had two of them, and can say that I will not have a third! We were told at the Glock Instructor course that it was a junk tool, and the instructor there told us to stay away from them (gotta respect his honesty there!).
I bought an Ameriglo pusher, and have had ZERO problems from it.

this is what I've been wondering.

I have Warren Tactical/Sevigny Competition sights on my G34 and G17, and Ameriglo Gl-433 Special Combo on my G27.

What tool would do both rear sights or would I have to buy 2 rear sight tools?

Thanks,
Greg

You would be better served with an MGW Glock Sight Pusher. They are much better built and will last you a lifetime.

If you reload and you like to play around with different powders you will have noticed that changing components will shift your POA/POI. Having a sight pusher allows you to drift your rear sight to adjust for these.

If I am not mistaken, the Ameriglo pusher is made by MGW...I heard that in one of the armorers classes, and have noticed that they are made pretty much exactly the same. Have you heard that?

It could very well be. They look similar enough that I wouldn't be surprised if they are both built by the same manufacturer and sold under two different names.

What I meant to tell the OP was to that the MGW is better built than then Glock Sight tool. The metal used on that model is too thin and can deform easily.

I wouldn't know for certain about the Ameriglo but it certainly looks to be built beefier than the Glock and it would also appear to be a good alternative.

The Glock Brand sight pushing tool is a flimsy piece of crap that is WAY too weak to install metal sights reliably. It was really made only to be strong enough for installing Glock's PLASTIC sights, and that's about all. If anyone ever actually succeeded in pushing a metal night sight in place with one, it was just a coincidence that the sight fit loose enough for the Glock tool to work. With metal sights it usually doesn't.

The MGW tool is by far the best one out there IMO, and it actually costs a little bit less than the junk one with "Glock" written on it.

Funny that, when it comes time to install sights for their customers, they don't appear to make use of a product they offer for sale: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1373725
I have never had my gun worked on by Glockmeister. However, I have bought many things from them over the years and have been more than pleased with them in that regard.

I have the GlockMeister sight tool worked great. I know you can push them the old fashion way but with the tool it will keep you from accidentally damaging the slide or sight
