So, when I get the money up, who here will sell me an extra?
I ended up finding a smaller shop in my area this week that had a Gen 5 G19 and I bought it. Hopefully the ranges open up soon on weekends and I can go try this thing out.
My only Glock these days is my 17 that I bought from a deputy sheriff back in the mid to late 80's. It was a Gen1 but in the early 90's, I sent it to Smyrna and they updated the gun with a Gen2 stock and replaced the sights and a couple other small parts. Later on, I bought a 26 and a 36 but ended up trading them for an FNP-45. I never carried the two little Glocks and thought the FNP would be a good choice for my back country camping.
Fast forward to current times. While I have many handguns, I was thinking about home defense in the current environment. I no longer live in CA (since 1994) and live in the countryside in Idaho. For the past few years, I've used my little LCP with trigger guard laser for pocket carry and home defense (because it fits in my nightstand drawer). However, if things got really bad, it's not enough gun and those who own them know they are not easy to shoot well. So, as my thinking went, I decided I should use the FNP-45 with its 14-15 rounds of .45 per mag. As I was looking in the safe, I thought maybe the 17 as I can put a 33 round mag in it as well as the 17-19 round mags I own. Problem was, no rail for a light and or laser. No prob, I'll go to one of the local shops and pick up a new or 19 with a rail. Yeah right. Even i our well-heeled state, no Glocks of any sort to be found.
Fortunately, I came across Recover Tactical's RC12 rail kit for G1 and G2 17's and bought one (with some skepticism) and mounted it to my old 17. I had an Olight Baldr Pro on the FNP but mounted it on the 17 (which I shoot better and keep loaded with Hydra-Shok. All my .45 is ball). This was a $20 solution to my *problem*.
No real point to this story but I thought a few might be interested in what I did when I couldn't find a G19 locally.
I have a 250 round stock G45 you can buy for $2000...LOL
Glock Shortage .......Ha Ha Ha! No, I don't think so! Maybe in your Local Area but not here in Florida! Just this past Thursday, my LGS had G 48, 43, 43X, 42 and G26 for sale.
I just got an email notification that grab a gun has the G 30 in stock. I wish I would have waited I would have saved $130. LOL.
There is a shortage where I live.. Only one LGS even has any. 2 Glock 43 an 1 gen 5 17 for $699.
So I got one (G45) from gunbroker for $550. More then what I wanted to pay but whatt can you do.
Just bought my wife a G19.4 MOS a couple days ago for Mother’s Day. My buddy at the shop texted me when they got it and he set it aside for me. She wanted in on the pistol red dot scene. Lol We have a shortage on the normal stuff in my area- 19/17/45. Half the rifle wall at shoot point blank is empty.
It is a Nationwide Shortage on everything Glock but the slim 43, 43X, 48 models. Fact.
The display counters are about 75% empty at the gunstore I went to on Saturday.
No glocks except about 5 blue labels.
A guy came in looking for some 9mm ammo. Found some fmj's and asked how much for a box? They told him $20 per box and that was all they had.
