Shooting both Glocks and 1911's, there is constant attention to the 1911 recoil spring. Lot's of opinions and discussions about how often to change the spring, spring weight, etc. I don't think I have ever read anything about the need to change the recoil spring in a Glock.

Am I missing something i.e., is it a good idea to routinely change the recoil spring after 2000 to 5000 rounds as in the 1911?

Its probably a good idea to change them every 5000 rounds or so. As for what weight to use, do a search on recoil springs it has been discussed at great leangth. Also lots of info in Brian Enos' spring forum.
