I have read some posts concerning Glock proof marks. Can someone explain this to me and what to look for?

Some folks find the Austrian proof marks desirable and are willing to pay more. Doesn't make a lick of difference though. Just an extra stamp required by some of the non-US countries that import the pistol.

The three-letter marking on the barrel that does not match the serial number is a date code that indicates the month and year of the proof testing in Austria.
