I was hoping somebody out there that shoots open class glock could give me some pointers. I had this idea to build an open Glock using a 17L and a 31 round G18 mag. Would that be legal? Im not sure if the mags fit the 170mm requirement or not. Any advice you could give would be helpful or let me know what you all use.

    Thank you,

    XC

17L is a poor choice. The long heavy slide will have trouble cycling fast especially with a comp or ports. I build all mine with a 17 slide.

The 18 mags are way too long. You can use a standard 17 mag with a TF extenstion that will take it to 170mm and 27-29 rounds.

I assume that since you are using a 17 it is an Open Minor gun, correct? Or have you found a way to safely load 9 to major?

You can load major 9 but it's problem ridden, at least in glocks. If you want the capacity and major you're better off with .38 super. THe major 9 in a glock seems to just break parts.

Open minor. Not a fan of loading handgrenades. Already had a USP in .45 go off in my hands not looking for repeat performance.

Thanks Matt for the info. Do you sell the TF extensions?

    XC, yes I have them.

Woody, 9x19 major and it does not break parts.

What is your load if you dont mind me asking for 9 major? Also if you don't mind maybe you could describe your weapon for me. What barrel, comp, optics, etc.

    Thanks

Sorry , but for liability reasons I cannot give out any specific load data. I use either VV 350 or 3n37 with 124-130gr bullets. Win cases, WSR and OAL of 1.155.

I would check around with your local dealers, you can probably find a fair price. I sell them at 10% over cost but as a low volume dealer the big guys can often beat my prices on guns.

If you need any other help or have more questions just ask.

I've only shot one ipsc and one steel match in the last five or six years. I used to run the IPSC Program at ARPC before McCarter took over and I think the burn out syndrome got the best of me. I'm getting hungry again so may be I'll see you out there some time soon.

Cool. Albany match was today, but I had to work. I just started shooting IPSC about 4 months ago. I've been trying to shoot all the matches in the area.. Tri-County, Dundee, Albany. My home range is Douglas Ridge Rifle Club in Eagle Creek. Unfortunately the club doesn't want to put the money into making bays so we do what we can for Action Pistol, Speed Steel, and Three gun. Albany has a great Practical Pistol Range. I've only shot there once, but I plan on making it a monthly stop. By the way, my names Shaun Hescock I'd be glad to meet you sometime. Take care.

I haven't seen Judith in quite some time, at least since Jan. 2003.

I've not seen her at a match in the past 18 months, and I've been getting to quite a few.

I thought some years back Judith was trying to get an ipsc program started at Douglas Ridge. Judith used to be our stats pro at ARPC.

I don't know who she is. A couple board members said they wanted to start one, but nothing has been done about it. Real political out there. I was told, "It says Douglas Ridge Rifle Club not handgun." It's the mentality at DRRC. A shame really. I could say more.

I think ARPC was going to purchase DRRC's Texas Star so we would have two of them. :)

You should plan on attending our Dec. IPSC match, we are going to start later in the day so we can do a night shoot of a couple of stages.

I should shoot Open with my G34 so I can use my Streamlight M3.
