Assuming regular care and maintenance (cleaning, lubing etc) and proper use of the pistol by not dry firing it and using only good quality ammo...how long do you think a Glock can last? What parts are most likely to break from use and storage over time? Who here has experienced first hand (as in you own it, not a friend of a friend heard of a guy..:embarassed:) a Glock still going strong after 10,000, 50,000, 100,000 rounds? What have you had to replace, if anything? Thanks!

I'm personally at 8k on my most used glock, and have only changed the recoil spring. I was told to do this as preventative maintenance.
From what I have read, the barrel will last 50,000+ rounds, though I have no verification of this.
I have read some cases where an internal part will break around 25k, and others have 75k and haven't changed anything.

There was a report from an indoor shooting range a while back that rented Glocks. They had one with over 50,000 rounds and had not changed anything, not even the recoil spring. Still going strong.

I think with proper maintenance you will be wondering if your grandkids will have issues with the plastic breaking down before you have any other problems.

Whats wrong with dry fire? It dosn´t any damage to the gun and is a key principle to manage the trigger and so on.

    Maybe 5,000 - 10,000 rounds before needing a re-build?

10k is just broke in -I've got 3 that are past that with nothing more than new recoil springs, and that was just for piece of mind.

I detail strip em around 5k for cleaning, but have yet to find a part needing replacement.

And I find the 50k barrel replacement figure to be doubtful, pistol ammo is just not that brutal on barrels IMO.

Given how much ammo an average shooter goes through, they'll never wear out a Glock.

I guess you could break something if you shot it enough. A friend of mine is near the 100k mark with his G19 and still no issues. So I imagine it would take a lot of of firing to finally have something break.

My first 21, which I still have, was used when I picked it up. I personally put close to 35,000 rounds through it...10,000 in just 1 summer. I have had it 11 years, and the only thing that ever broke was the slide stop...it sheared off...I did replace the recoil spring twice...

These people are all wrong. Glock's typically have a Shelf life of about 6 months, regardless of rounds through it. After 6 months they are considered unsafe and should be sent to me for proper disposal!!!

Not sure about actual USABLElife, but they lose all their PRESTIGE-life as soon as purchased.

    Prestige Life Dead On Arrival.

    Dead as a doornail.

    Gone.

When I went through the Glock Armorer's school back in the mid 1990s they told us about a European ammo maker who sent a test G17 back to Glock after a documented 379,000 rounds of 9mm. The trigger spring and the recoil spring had been replaced. Everything else was original.

My first G21 digested 25,000 rounds of 45 ACP ammo without a single weapon related malfunction. I quit counting after that and continued to shoot the gun for another couple years before trading it for a G21SF.
