Gents, can you please tell me if you have any experience with the Glock knives. I always wanted one, but disregarded them because they're only $28. How good can the steel be for that price?

Just made me think of those cheap surplus copy knives you could buy at the swap meet for $15. Can you shed some light on them?

I owned one (non-sawback model) several years ago and while it retained its edge fairly well (I USE all my knives hard) I thought the blade was a little narrow (belly-wise) and not really suited for heavy chopping/slicing. For the money I do feel it makes a good "extra" for BOB/trunk kit/etc.

I agree with Leigh. The Glock knife is a great service type knife and is issued to the Austrian MIL. They don't come shaving sharp but they're not intended to. They have a working edge and retain it well. I keep one in the truck and one in our dry bags with the camping gear. It's a good general purpose use and abuse tool.

Ok, so I finally went with the K-bar Next Generation Combat knife. Hope it works as good as it looks. It has a great historical backing with the military.
