Is it possible or wise to hunt with a glock? Is so what caliber? For deer or boar. Thinking about getting rid of the 308 and getting something I can shoot on the range also. TNX for any help

    possible yes...wise no...

i could have killed two with my g22 yesterday, they were directly underneath my stand but i let them walk...

i hunt with a .308 as well....if you want to get something you can shoot at the range and hunt with too, think about a 6"-8" barrel .44mag...

Within 50 yds. or so, I wouldn't hesitate to take a shot at a deer (if I hunted deer) with a G20 loaded up with some hot XTP's or with my G21 loaded up with some hot .40 Supers.

I agree with WalterGA, a G20 (properly stoked) or a G21 (with .45Supers or .450SMC) are great for deer sized game

Good loads like MCNETT’s stuff or home rolled near comparable ammo (which is what I use) in a G20 at reasonable (read bowhunting) ranges on even large whitetails will produce T&T results.

I’ve had good expansion and very humane kills with 200 gr. XTPs. I have had no failures out of 5 deer shot. Four deer went down with one shot each, one was dead within thirty seconds of the first shot. In that instance, the first shot was most likely fatal, but I opted to “buy the insurance.”

I would not have taken a single shot if I considered it unwise. Add a hunting barrel and optics to really put the odds in your favor.

Just know your limits and value the game animal.

I don't know about hogs (swore off them in college ;)

Ted Nugent talks a lot about shooting deer with his G20.

Here in VA we have little deer. Next week I plan to carry my G36 during firearms season. I want to try out some Powrball on a deer.

I'll let you know in about two weeks when I slap one with a 200 grain XTP out of my 6" barreled G20. I'm not expecting much of a fight at 750 pounds of energy.

Up here you wouldn't want to shoot a dear with anything less than a 1000 ft/lbs of energy... It just ain't humane, I tell ya!

    Amen brother!

G20 with a 6" KKM hunting barrel and some 175 Silvertips or some nice MCNETT ammo.

it would be nice if they turned out a hunting specific handgun with a thinner blade sight and a 3lb.connector in 10mm

id buy one except for the fact that you cannot hunt with non straight walled pistol ammo in N.C.

it has to be .357mag or larger or .24 cal bottleneck ammo atleast 2" long...

I put a 3.5 connector in my G20 for hunting. As you say, nice to have.

Down heah on Tobaccy Road, if we shoot a "dear", regardless of the caliber/energy used, we's gonna get our asses locked up!

    Hey Spartan,

Got my speakers turned up to maximum and still can't hear you???? Maybe, you should type what you mean and stop talking to your computer screen.

By the way, where exactly did your mind go?

I've take two large bucks with my Ruger GP100 using Cor-Bon 180gr. lead. Both shots were less than 70 yards. Both shots were single action. No scope used. Distance is an important factor. The both fell like they were hit with a 300WinMag.
