So I bought my first gun a couple days ago (a G19) but when I load a magazine and release the slide the bullet gets jammed and the slide doesn't close all the way. I don't know much about guns, so I'm not sure if the problem is that I haven't cleaned it right, the gun is needs to be returned, or I have the wrong ammo (Blazer Brass 9mm Luger 115 Grain FMJ).

Here's a picture of the jammed gun:

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Take it back for sure. Twice when I first started shooting my G17 I racked the slide and the round didn't load properly. It actually jammed a little further out than your pic shows. It was round 571 and 572, but no problems before or after. If it won't load properly then definitely take it back.

Be careful of bullet set back..When a round nose dives into the feadramp like that it will cause setback and possibly KB your gun if it does chamber and fire.

i agree you could have a weak mag spring or your feed ramp might be rough or have burrs on it fmj is the best shape for feeding so you might have any number of these problems bad guns do happen from any body so have it checked hope problem gets resolved good luck

Did you use the same round each time or did you try different rounds? Is this happening with 15 round mags loaded to full capacity?

How are you loading? Are you starting with slide closed, inserting magazine and working the slide or are you starting with slide open and then inserting the mag?

Disassemble your Glock and reassemble it, but make sure to follow the instructions carefully. Function test the mags by inserting an empty mag into the pistol, point in a safe direction and work the slide to the rear. The slide should lock open, if not you could have a problem with the mag springs.

the rim of case may not be going under extractor. Since this is your first glock I doubt if you know how to remove extractor and clean in that area. Maybe your dealer could help.
Good point! Disassemble your Glock, remove the barrel and recoil spring assembly, and then try to work a round between the extractor and the breech face. The round should slide into the area without too much effort. If it doesn't the extractor could be dirty or their could be an issue with the extractor or the extractor spring.

Are you using 10 round magazines with 2183-1 followers in the magazines?? If so that might be your problem

I would definitely check the extractor! I am looking at the picture, and can see that the case has not sipped under the extractor claw. As mentioned before, check the extractor spring and claw.
